What sharks may you see?
Galapagos and sandbar sharks are the species most often associated with the Haleiwa cage sites. Hammerhead and tiger shark sightings can happen, but they are less predictable.
Galapagos sharks
Large, powerful sharks commonly seen in deeper island waters.
Sandbar sharks
Broad-finned sharks that often move calmly around offshore sites.
Tiger or hammerhead
Memorable when present, but never something to book around.
Shark numbers, species and visibility change with natural conditions. Treat review photos and reported counts as past experiences, not a promise for your trip.
